2017-2018 Calendar

Book of the year: Oliver Twist

All meetings are held at at one of the Cuyahoga County Libraries unless otherwise specified. Regular meetings begin at 7:00 pm and are free and open to all admirers of Charles Dickens. Note that, for the first part of the year at least, we meet on Thursday evenings.

We hear about the 2017 Fellowshiip Conference in Carrara, Italy; Kathy Broz surveys Dickens's life events when he was publishing Oliver Twist.

Beth Bliss tells us about Cruikshank, the popular illustrator of Dickens's day who did Oliver Twist and more.
 
Thurs. Nov. 9. County Library, Beachwood, 25501 Shaker Blvd. Meeting Room B.
Kathleen Schuerger introduces Jack Sheppard, a novel published at about the same time as Oliver Twist, similar in some ways, but oh-so-different in others.
And so we begin our group discussion of Oliver Twist.

We gather for holiday treats and a group reading of Dickens's playlet, "Is She Your Wife?"
